Bergen, Dirck van den Lot n° 7

Attributed to BERGEN, Dirck van den [Seated herdsman with cattle and sheep at riverside]. Pen and brown ink, grey wash, brown ink framing lines, 15,2 x 18,5 cm, watermark (inscribed on the verso, in graphite, "A. v. de Velde"). Mounted on paper support. A painting with similar composition and attributed to Adriaen van de Velde belongs to the collection of the Kunsthistorisches Museum Wien. Further research is necessary to determine whether this drawing can be attributed to Adriaen van de Velde or to his pupil Dirck van den Bergen (1645-1690).
