A Chinese blue and white slender ovoid jar and... Lot n° 43

The vase is decorated to the body with scattered flower sprays sandwiched between two bands of petals encircling the shoulder and the foot, each enclosing a lotus scroll in reserve. The neck is decorated with a demi-lotus scroll. The slightly rounded, flattened cover is decorated with a flower roundel to the centre encircled by a flower band and a hatched band. Condition: The cover: There are shallow chips to the rim (the largest approx. 1 cm. wide). The jar: There is a firing crack to the base which leads to two further cracks.
