A Chinese blue and white 'dragon and fish' ch... Lot n° 38

The impressive dish is decorate to the centre with a large striding four-clawed dragon chasing a flaming pearl amongst flame scrolls and surrounded by waves. The cavetto is decorated with two kinds of fish, crabs, and shrimp, all amongst sea weed. The exterior with two pairs of large branches. Condition: A crack to the rim (approx. 11 cm. long). A shallow glaze flake to the interior (approx. 0.3 cm.). With expected frits to the rim and surface wear consistent with age. Origin: China Period: Wanli period (1573-1619) Sizes: 9.80 cm.
