Face au succès, Henri Chapron présente l’année suivante La Croisette, puis Le Caddy. Elle fut la première Chapron DS à être conçue avec l'aile arrière monobloc, en lieu et place de l’aile de berline. Comme La Croisette, elle conserve la porte avant de la berline. Seuls les premiers exemplaires seront construits ainsi. La cabriolet Le Caddy poursuivra sa carrière jusqu’en 1968, évoluant au fil des modifications de la DS. Au total trente-quatre unités sortiront des ateliers de Levallois. L’exemplaire que nous vous proposons est celui du Salon de Paris 1961. En Aout 1961, Citroën expédie à Chapron une DS 19, châssis 4219414, en vue de la réalisation d’un cabriolet Le Caddy pour le salon de Paris. Cet exemplaire bénéficie des évolutions du millésime 1961 (nouveau tableau de bord et moteur revu), mais dispose toujours des portes de la berline. En septembre 1961, la voiture est prête. La carrosserie est peinte dans la teinte Or Longchamp et l’intérieur est réalisé dans le cuir de Veau Sweat Caff Peggy. Vendu sur le Salon à Monsieur Ricard résidant dans le 7 e arrondissement de Paris. Celui-ci commande alors à Chapron un Hard Top (malheureusement perdu), un autoradio radiomatic et une paire de rétroviseurs. Nous ne connaissons malheureusement pas son histoire après Monsieur Ricard, il faut attendre les années 2000 pour que nous en retrouvions sa trace. En 2008, le propriétaire précédent entama une restauration. Plus en capacité de finir le projet, il céda la DS inachevée à son propriétaire actuel, grand amateur des productions Chapron. La restauration reprend, la mécanique est refaite et le système hydraulique est converti au LHM vert. La carrosserie est refaite dans la teinte Chapron Bleu Royal et la sellerie se part d’un cuir naturel du plus bel effet. Following its success, the following year Henri Chapron presented La Croisette, then Le Caddy. It was the first Chapron DS to be designed with a one-piece rear wing, in place of the sedan wing. Like La Croisette, it retained the sedan's front door. Only the first examples were built in this way. The Caddy cabriolet continued its career until 1968, evolving as the DS was modified. A total of thirty-four units left the Levallois workshops. The model we're presenting here is from the 1961 Paris Motor Show. In August 1961, Citroën sent Chapron a DS 19, chassis 4219414, to produce a Le Caddy convertible for the Paris Motor Show. This model benefits from the evolutions of the 1961 model year (new dashboard and revised engine), but still has the doors of the sedan. By September 1961, the car was ready. The body was painted in Longchamp Gold, and the interior in Peggy's Sweat Caff leather. Sold at the Salon to Monsieur Ricard, a resident of the 7th arrondissement of Paris. He then ordered a Hard Top (unfortunately lost), a radiomatic car radio and a pair of rear-view mirrors from Chapron. Unfortunately, we don't know the history of this car after Monsieur Ricard, and it was not until the 2000s that we were able to trace it. In 2008, the previous owner embarked on a restoration project. No longer able to finish the project, he handed over the unfinished DS to its current owner, a great enthusiast of Chapron productions. Restoration resumed, the mechanicals were rebuilt and the hydraulic system was converted to green LHM.
