Dans la conférence faite à Paris, le 14 janvier 1950, à la Société des Ingénieurs de l’Automobile, Mr Giuseppe Lauro, directeur général de ces usines a expliqué la naissance de la Lambretta. « Je me souviens, pour la vérité historique, que justement ici en France, en 1920 fut fondée la 1ère association scootériste du monde, « le Scooter Club de France ». Cette marque de scooters fabriqués par la société italienne Innocenti doit son nom à son usine de Lambrate près de Milan. Au sortir de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, l'entreprise Innocenti, spécialisée dans les tubes industriels non soudés en acier et ses fameux échafaudages à montage rapide, voit, comme la majorité de l'industrie Italienne, son activité reprendre fortement. À la recherche de nouveaux marchés pour étendre son champ d'activités, Ferdinando Innocenti s’oriente vers un besoin particulier de la nouvelle vie civile : le transport populaire. À l'instar de Piaggio et sa Vespa, le scooter va devenir le produit principal du nouveau département transports d'Innocenti qui, dès 1956, se lance également dans la construction automobile. La maison Innocenti dessine son premier scooter (dit modèle A) en 1947. Le modèle proposé est un type 125 LD et a été restauré par son ancien propriétaire.
