Ebb Tide Quilt by Mary Schafer 1980 Lot n° 57

Ebb Tide is signed and dated by Mary Schafer April 1980 in white thread in center of lower white border , measures 72x96.5". A medallion style quilt with a center field 31x42" of half square triangle in indigo and off white. It is followed by 5 frames: 9" solid off white, 3.5" indigo print, 5-8" off white, 2" indigo print, and a 4" outer border of indigo dotted print. It is hand pieced, hand quilted, and hand embroidered. Thin cotton batting and an off white cotton reverse. The edge is finished with an applied white fabric binding, by hand. Sleeve applied to the back top edge for hanging. In very good condition. This quilt is from the Mary Schafer Collection. She was the quilter and collector from the book Mary Schafer - American Quilt Maker by Gwen Marston. 1980.
