A vintage watercolor painting on paper depicting a scene with an Orientalist dancer after Fabio Fabbi, Italian, 1861 to 1946. Inscribed, F. Fabbi, lower left. Framed. Fabio Fabbi was an Italian Orientalist painter and illustrator. He studied painting and sculpture with Augusto Rivalta, at the Academy of Fine Arts, Florence, where he would become a Professor in 1893. He would gain considerable popularity for his exoticized, Neoclassical paintings, usually depicting Middle Eastern and North African street scenes and featuring harem women, dancers, and Muslim warriors. In addition to his paintings, he illustrated the works of Virgil and Lodovico Ariosto, as well as Italian translations of works by Louisa May Alcott, Charles Dickens, Jules Verne and Edgar Rice Burroughs, among many others. One of a kind artwork. Condition: Overall good vintage condition. Signs of wear and Age. Refer to photos. Sold as is. Dimensions: Overall Frame L 17 x W 14 1/2 in. Painting L 9 1/2 x W 7 in.
