JAN AND JOEL MARTEL (Le Mollin, 1896 - Paris (one of them), 1966). "Bust of Henri Vignes". Plaster. Signed. Exhibitions: "European sculpture in the 20th century", European Museum of Modern Art (MEAM), Barcelona, 2014. Size: 43 x 31 x 34 cm. Twin brothers, sculptors and decorators, shared a home and workshop, and used to collaborate in the creation of works, which is why they often signed themselves simply as "Martel". Their production, inspired by Cubism and with a marked Art Deco accent, also included decorative projects for interior spaces, especially domestic settings. They were founding members of the Union of Modern Artists. They were the authors of the well-known "Monument to Claude Debussy" in the square of the same name in Paris, executed in 1932.
