VERBIEST, Peter Comitatus Flandria. Antwerp Heirs of P. Verbiest 1630 Engr., 46,5 x 55,3 cm, contemp. hand-coloured (repaired, underlaid, very light pencil notes). Very rare carte-à-figures, 1st st., oriented to the North Sea, with side borders of costumed figures and upper and lower borders of major cities after Cl. J. Visscher. The Verbiest family, the only map publisher's firm who, after the fall of Antwerp, returned from Amsterdam and set up a shop in Antwerp under the Americ sign, specialised in publishing single maps that were easier to sell than expensive large folio atlases.
