STATUETTE DE SHVANASYA EN ALLIAGE DE CUIVRE DORÉ TIBET, VERS XVIIE SIÈCLE Himalayan Art Resources item no. 4624 18.5 cm (7 1/4 in.) high Footnotes: A GILT COPPER ALLOY FIGURE OF SHVANASYA TIBET, CIRCA 17TH CENTURY 西藏 約十七世紀 銅鎏金犬相空行母像 Provenance: With Claude de Marteau, Brussels, by 1970s Depicted with the face of a canine, Shvanasya serves Vajravarahi as her western gate guardian, belonging to a retinue of animal-headed dakinis who protect her sacred mandala-abode. Compare with a bird-faced dakini from the same sculptural set (HAR 10661). For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com Good condition overall, with obvious loss to the secondary proper left arm, as is visible in images. Minor loss of gilding in the upper portions of the figure. There is a layer of smoky black residue from exposure to temple lamps within the culture. Embedded dust in recessed areas. Remains of cold gold to the face, earrings, and crown, blue pigment in the hair, black and white pigment in the eyes and eyelids, and red pigment in the mouth and above the eyes.
