BOHEMIA. Czechoslovakia, second half of the 20th century. Two vases and a bonbonniere. In cut glass. Provenance: Private collection, Spain between 1970-1990. Measurements: 20 cm (height); 11.5 cm (diameter) larger. Set of two vases and a bonbonniere in Bohemian cut crystal, with vegetal decorations, borders and animals in maroon and green. Bohemian crystal takes its name from the regions of Bohemia and Silesia, which belong to the countries now known as the Czech Republic and Poland. Bohemian crystal is famous for its high quality, fineness and the exquisite use of lead oxide in its manufacture. The hegemony of Bohemian crystal began in the late 16th century. It became popular among both the nobility and the European royalty of the time and today, allowing its reputation to reach all corners of the world.
