SÈVRES Art Deco glass figure. France ca. 1940. Isadora Duncan. Moulded glass. Signed on the base Sèvres France and with silver fleur-de-lis on the reverse. Provenance: Private collection, Spain between 1970-1990. Measurements: 21 x 11 x 6 cm. Elegant and stylised figure of the famous dancer Isadora Duncan, Art Deco period in opalescent moulded glass. In 1750, the Marquise de Pompadour, lover of Louis XV, acquired the privilege of having a glass factory in Paris, which she later moved to the Château Bellevue in Sèvres. Under the direction of the Marquis de Marigny, brother of the Marquise de Pompadour, the Royal Manufacture of Sèvres Crystals, now devoted exclusively to glass, gained a prestigious clientele throughout Europe. Even today, glass is the result of a subtle alchemy of natural elements, magnified by fire and orchestrated by man. Cristal de Sèvres, thanks to an experience going back more than two centuries, created from fire and air, exceptional objects, luxury and excellence in the delicate world of tableware and decoration.
