Yamantaka Vajrabhairava is a wrathful form of Manjushri, the Bodhisattva of Discriminating Wisdom. The worship of Vajrabhairava enjoyed great popularity throughout Tibet, Mongolia, and China during the Qing dynasty. The Qianlong Emperor himself was recognized as an earthly incarnation of Manjushri, Vajrabhairava's spiritual sire.
