Bague romaine sertie d’une intaille Art romain d’Orient, IIème - IIIème siècle

Figure un portrait aux traits juvéniles de profil et tourné vers la gauche. La chevelure est ceinte d’un diadème. Le visage est caractérisé par un œil grand en amande, la pupille marquée, un nez court et droit et une petite bouche charnue. Les cheveux sont représentés en épaisses mèches, dépassant à l’arrière du diadème et allant jusqu’à la base du cou. Il peut s’agir d’une représentation du dieu Apollon. Anneau arrondi à l’extérieur et à l’intérieur, les épaules plus larges se terminent en un chaton central oval serti de l’intaille.

Figuring a portrait with juvenile features in profile and turned to the left. The hair is adorned with a tiara. The face is characterized by a large almond-shaped eye with a marked pupil, a short, straight nose and a small fleshy mouth. The hair is shown in thick strands, extending beyond the back of the tiara and reaching down to the base of the neck. It may be a representation of the god Apollo. Rounded ring on the outside and inside, the wider shoulders end in a central oval bezel set with the intaglio.
