HAUT-RELIEF FIGURANT LA VIERGE À L’ENFANT ENTOUREE DES SAINTS Italie, Lombardie, fin XVe siècle Terracotta 67 x 96 cm (Restaurations) Un test de thermoluminescence de CSG PALLADIO accompagne ce lot. Sculpté de manière architecturale, la scène principale figure au centre la Vierge à l’enfant, assise sur un trône reposant sur deux gradins. Elle est entourée des saints - Saint Pierre, Saint Paul, Saint Jean l’Evangéliste et Sainte Catherine d’Alexandrie. Au-dessus de sa tête auréolée, deux archanges soutiennent une couronne. Le second registre, sculpté en haut-relief dans le fronton, présente le Christ pantocrator entouré d’anges. Les anta sont finement décorées de rinceaux émergeant de haut vases. Modelled and carved as an architectural structure, the main scene features the Virgin and Child in the center, seated on a throne resting on two tiers. She is surrounded by saints - Saint Peter, Saint Paul, Saint John the Evangelist and Saint Catherine of Alexandria. Above her haloed head, two archangels support a crown. The second register, carved in high relief in the pediment, shows the Christ Pantocrator surrounded by angels. The anta are finely decorated with foliage emerging from tall vases. The entablature decorated with 8 cherubs.
