Also sprach Zarathustra. Ein Buch für Alle und Keinen. ¶ The Ideal Book p. 29. Printed in black, reddish-brown & gold by “Offizin W. Drugulin” (Leipzig) under supervision of the Belgian artist Henry Van de Velde (1863-1957) in 530 copies on handmade paper (with wide margins). One of 430 Arabic numb. copies bound in FULL VELLUM. Typographical design & book-decoration (incl. frontisp. title-vignette, 4 divisional titles & vignettes) by Henry Van de Velde. The lettertype was designed by the Belgian artist Georges Lemmen (1865-1916) in co-operation with the German printer Harry Graf von Kessler (1868-1937). ¶ “It is a monumental book and one of the most impressive in the Art Nouveau style. Van de Velde designed the French title, title, typography, decoration and the binding. The type was designed by Georges Lemmen and cut through the agency of Count Harry Kessler, the later founder of the Cranach-Presse and a good friend of Van de Velde” (cited from “The Ideal Book”). – In fine condition (due to the protection of blind wrappers around the binding) with only off-setting in the text (caused by the vignettes & ornaments) and some foxing in outer blank margin.
