Acht kleurenlitho’s bij [de elfde zang van] het epos van Gilgamesj, ¶ Ad 1: Printed by G.A. Verwey (Schiedam) in 150 copies. One of 50 Roman numbered copies with all lithographs printed on SILK (“japanse zijde”). Numbered & signed in blue ink (in the colophon) by the Dutch artist Harry van Kruiningen (1906-1996). Comprises the cuneiform text of tablet XI of the Sumerian “Epic of Gilgamesh” with parallel Dutch translation by the Dutch scholar Franz Marius Theodor de Liagre Böhl (1882-1976). – A few minor imperfections to the wrappers (spine sl. creased, a few small waterstains on backstrip & upper cover), but nevertheless in good condition. ¶ Ad 2: Printed by G.A. Verweij (Schiedam) in 100 Arabic numb. copies with all lithographs printed on “Simili Japon”. Numbered & signed in blue ink (in the colophon) by the Dutch artist Harry van Kruiningen (1906-1996). Comprises the hieroglyphic text of the Egyptian hymn-poem “The Great Hymn to the Aten” with parallel English translation by Gertrude Edith van Baaren-Pape (1907-1988) based on the Dutch translation by the Dutch Egyptologist Adriaan de Buck (1892-1959). – A few defects to the wrappers (spine-ends dam./ torn, spine partly creased, upper cover sl. soiled), but nevertheless in a good interior condition.
