Hat Stand Pair. China, late 19th-early 20th century. Glazed porcelain. Measurements: 27.5 x 12.3 cm. Set of two cylindrical body jars made of enameled porcelain. Of Chinese manufacture, they are decorated with courtly and landscape scenes of great finesse and sophistication. Both pieces are made with a wide chromatic range, and present a drawing stroke typical of Asian art. Chinese porcelain, exported to Europe as early as the 16th century, was one of the most valued objects until the manufacture of paste on the continent, and even later, due to its stylistic peculiarities and fineness.
