Tea kettle. China, 19th century. Carnelian Size: 16 x 16 x 5 cm. Teapot made entirely in carnelian, presenting a smooth and polished finish, except for its lid that is crowned by an openwork motif and rings. The fluid and organic forms reflect the importance that the allusion to nature has for the oriental culture. Nature is, for oriental art, a source of inspiration and creation of artistic concepts that are reflected in the production of everyday objects, functional and totally handmade.
