Occ. sl. stained, but an attractive copy with old owner's entry of A. Barents on the inside of the front wrapper. Very rare schoolbook, only one copy of this edition in PiCarta (UB Leiden). PiCarta lists one earlier edition, published by the widow of Gijsbert de Groot, between 1692 and 1717 (also only in 1 copy). Buijnsters, Ned. school- en kinderboeken, 990. Gerrit Jansz. Hesman (1661 - c.1715), Dutch writer living and working in Dokkum, known for his chronicle of Dokkum and his wapen- en vlaggenboek (manuscript, 1708). Our lovely schoolbook explains the most important persons and events of the bible, entirely in rhyming verses.
