In samenspraken tussechen eenen vader en deszelfs zoon. Met platen. Amsterdam, Johannes Roelof Poster, n.d. (1811), (4), 68 p., with woodcut title vignette and 23 half-p. woodcuts of animals, contemp. blue wrapper, sm. 4to. Small water stain in blank lower right corner at the beginning. Inside of wrappers stained, paper over spine lacking. A good copy, with contemp. annotation in pen on the title p.: "Provinciale Commissie van Onderwys in Friesland". Waller 1641; Muller 1085; Kinderen Lazen Kinderen Lezen 350. A very rare chapbook, only 1 copy in PiCarta (KB). The animals depicted and discussed in dialogue by a father and his son include the elephant, the rhinoceros, lion, ostrich, griffin, unicorn, porcupine, parrot, lobster and herring. Of the typical Dutch seafood, the herring, the father explains that there are many kinds: Vrouwtjes-haring, Jacobi-haring, Bartholomeus-haring, Kruis-haring (according to the months in which they are caught) and Volle-haring, Maatjes-haring, IJlen-haring, Kuitzieke haring and Homzieken haring ("alle deze soorten moeten ieder bij zijn soort ingepakt worden"). "Z. Is de haring gezond? V. Ja; van daar het spreekwoord - "Als de haring komt, rijden de dokters in gheene koetsen.""
