Montesano, La collezione Magnanini, Carpi 2016, p. 29 with ill. (shown in horizontal) In the 1960s the relationship between the line and colour in her works became richer with luminescent tones: she began to use warmer colours, juxtaposing them for contrast and trialling new combinations which were so delicate on her canvases that they appeared extremely natural. As Celant says “ the regularity of the chromatic rhythms, with their linear alternation, creates a principle of pure activity, the motionless vibration and brightness of colour. It’s splendor, incurably optimistic, makes the paintings sing visually and rise as if in a gesture of birth or renaissance”. G. Celant, Carla Accardi. La vita delle forme, Silvana Editoriale- Zerynthia 2011 “More than colours, what I’ve always loved are their combinations and the radiance that comes from them. […] When I used red and green, or pink and light blue, the important thing was for the two colours to have the same strength, and not just to be merely complementary colours. As a result, they wrestle and create light.“ Carla Accardi
