Buste de Kurukulla Tibet, monastère de Densatil circa 1360-1370 Alliage cuivreux autrefois doré. H. 17 cm Bien que fragmentaire, ce buste de divinité féminine présente tous les éléments stylistiques et techniques, tels que le tenon émergeant du dos, caractérisant les sculptures provenant des tashi gomang de Densatil. Avec une seule face, quatre bras, un diadème orné de cinq crânes , et un collier de têtes fraîchement coupées, la main inférieure gauche tenant la base de la tige du lotus qui s’épanouit au-dessus de son épaule, cette divinité ne saurait être identifiée que comme la seule présentant ces caractéristiques parmi le complexe panthéon ornant les tashi gomang, à savoir Kurukulla. Provenance la plus probable en regard de la synthèse des éléments techniques et stylistiques, et de l’état actuel de proposition de la chronologie des monuments du monastère de Densatil: Cinquième niveau du côté nord du second ou troisième tashi gomang érigés à partir de 1360 pour Grags pa rgyal mtshan (1293 - 1360) 8ème abbé de Densatil de 1310 à 1360 et à partir de 1370 pour Grags pa shes rab (1310-1370) 9ème abbé de Densatil de 1360 à 1370. Le caractère fragmentaire de l’œuvre rend délicate son attribution à un de ces deux monuments plutôt qu’à l’autre. H. 17 cm Although fragmentary, this bust of a female deity displays all the stylistic and technical elements, such as the tenon emerging from the back, that characterize sculptures from the Densatil gomang tashi. With a single face, four arms, a tiara adorned with five skulls , and a necklace of freshly cut heads, the lower left hand holding the base of the lotus stem that blooms above her shoulder, this deity could only be identified as the only one with these characteristics among the complex pantheon adorning the tashi gomang, namely Kurukulla. The most likely provenance in view of the synthesis of technical and stylistic elements, and the current state of proposal of the chronology of the monuments of the Densatil monastery: Fifth level of the north side of the second or third tashi gomang erected from 1360 for Grags pa rgyal mtshan (1293 - 1360) 8th abbot of Densatil from 1310 to 1360 and from 1370 for Grags pa shes rab (1310-1370) 9th abbot of Densatil from 1360 to 1370.
