IMPORTANTE CEMI IN SERPENTINO Santo Domingo Bellissimo Cemi di grandi dimensioni nel quale sono riconoscibili i tre vertici simboleggianti, secondo il cemitismo, i tre cardini su cui ruota l'universo. La particolare forma, caratterizzata dalle due escrescenze troncoconiche in corrrispondenza della parte superiore della testa e del collo, unita alla superficie perfettamente piatta e ruvida della base di appoggio, fa pensare che possa trattarsi di uno strumento di uso, forse una pietra per macina, comodamente impugnabile. Realizzato in pietra basaltica dalla bella colorazione verde con screziature nere, presenta tratto vigoroso e fine esecuzione. La zona delle orbite non lucidata presupponeva forse una tarsia in altro materiale. Raro esemplare, la pietra presenta vistosa frattura, altrimenti in buone condizioni. AN IMPORTANT SERPENTINE CEMI Santo Domingo A very fine and large Cemi in which the three symbolic vertices, according to cemitism, the three cardinals which rotate the universe, are depicted. The particular form, characterized by the two truncated cone-shaped protuberances corresponding with the upper part of the head and neck, unite at the perfectly flat and rough surface of the footrest, makes one think that it could have been an instrument to be used, such as a grinding stone, as it is easily gripable. It is realized in basaltic stone with a fine green colouring with black speckles, vigorously carved and finely executed. The orbit area is not polished and would therefore suggest a tarsia of another material. A rare example, the stone has a noticeable fracture, but otherwise in good condition. Dim. 28 x 16 x 11 cm.
