A very imposing basso-relievo carved ivory plaque, monogrammed 'M.Z.' depicting an important and very dramatic 17thC French naval battle (the sea battle of Solebay in 1672?), the plaque presented in an oak Renaissance Revival frame with ivory details, decorated with Renaissance scrollwork, flanked by an atlant and a caryatide figure, the lower centre with an angel head and on top a satyr mask, 43 x 75 cm (the plaque) - 95 x 117 (the whole)Added expertise report according to CITES legislation.
