Alvar Aalto Lot n° 15

A pair of golden exclusive ”A110 Handgrenade” pendant lamps designed by Alvar Aalto and produced by Finnform edition. Artek had a practically unknown episode during its history, its partnership with the Finnform brand, Finnform was founded thanks to Letterio (Lillo) Mangano (1921 – 2002) an Italian industrialist and collector who fell in love with Finnish design after the international art and design exhibitions and triennials in Milan during the 50’s. He got associated with his wife Jole Sala and the couple Sarpaneva, who created the logo. Finnform distributed pieces from Aalto, Wirkkala or Sarpaneva in Italy from 1957 to 1999. He obtained a specific license from Alvar Aalto to produce some of his pieces with his society Appia in Italy and the others were directly imported from Finland.
