"Saint Michael the Archangel". Carved, gilded and polychromed wooden sculpture. Colonial School. 18th century. Monumental sculpture of one of the three archangels, Saint Michael, vanquisher of the devil and prince of the Angelic Host. He is depicted according to the most typical iconography, as a warrior wearing a breastplate and helmet, armed with a sword and a shield on which appear the initials of "Quis Sicut Deus" (Who is like God), particularly associated with this archangel. He rests on a cloud, and at the same time on his original plinth. 197 x 132 x 82 cm.
