Japan, Edo period (1615-1868) Painted in underglaze blue, the show side with a central drawing depicting a Dutch rat catcher with two rats on a bridge, surrounded by a border of radiating lappets enclosing stylized plant designs and figural scenes. The backside with scrolling vines. DIAMETER 48 cm Condition: Good condition with expected wear and manufacturing flaws. Provenance: Holzapfel collection, Geneva, Switzerland.
