"Agnus Dei". Carved and polychromed wood sculpture. Spain or Italy. End of 17th It could be the lamb which, as a symbol, accompanied a large sculptural group including the figure of Saint John the Baptist. We can see an example of this in the magnificent image by the sculptor Juan de Ávila in the Church of Saint James the Apostle, in which the lamb is placed on its own individual base, free-standing from the sculpture of Saint John and his feet. 21 x 39 x 19 cm.
