DELFOS, Abraham. After Nicolas Poussin Lamentation over the body of Christ. Near an open tomb and surrounding the dead body of Christ, Mary, Mary Magdalene, Joseph of Arimathaea and John are mourning. After a popular painting by Poussin, dated 1628, now in the Alte Pinakothek, Munich. Delfos (1731-1820) was mostly known for his drawings and paintings copied after Dutch and (to a lesser extent) French masters. Joined: Van Bree, Philippe-Jacques.
