Specifications: Watercolor on Paper Artist: Navneet Parikh 10.2 inches X 13.4 inches This artwork evidently proves that the strength of Indian painting lies in the directedness of its expression, wherein the line, form and colour reveal all there is in the artist's vision. The style, in portraying these two beautiful women, combines the boldness of Rajput painting with a strong Deccani palette of blue, pink and mauve. The two figures appear lively, an effect achieved by the use of bold and angular lines. They are attired in fine silk and cotton clothings woven with gold threads and they are bedecked from head to toe with numerous ornaments. Several strands of pearl necklaces enhance the beauty of the figures. There is hurriedness in their steps and as they walk they discuss some event animatedly. The two faces can be seen in profile; they do not look at each other as they talk but it is evident from the gestures of their hands that something grave has caused a flutter. The ladies walk on lush green grass interspersed with flowering plants and shrubs. The background shows a solitary tree with tiny, pink flowers. The sky has horizontal coloured stripes to depict dusk. This description by Kiranjyot.
