Babur was the founder of the Mughal Empire and first Emperor of the Mughal dynasty in the Indian subcontinent. He was a descendant of both Timur and Genghis Khan through his father and mother, respectively. In this painting, Kailash Raj has beautifully captured Babar's aging figure as a deep mink complexioned man with a Greek nose and drooping almond eyes enhanced by his black and white hued duck tail beard and straight eyebrows as his fine ears protrude through his bandhej yellow and green spiral turban which is beautified with two white and grey jutting feathers. He is appareled in a dusty azure blue jama tightened by a gold studded floral belt as he tops it up with his sandstone orange choga bordered with snowy white outlines. His sharp sword is sheathed in a leather brown gilded scabbard as a golden chain hangs down from it to his waist belt. He holds an embroidered religious book in his left hand whilst a white cotton handkerchief in his left. His background is made splendidly aesthetic by painting it in a hue of light jade and Carolina blue colors, contrasting it with pink lupines and white delphiniums that beautify the painting with the accompanying busy blue flowers which take the sideline. It is enclosed in a thick bronze glittered framework that makes it an eye-catching beauty as it attracts the spectators with its remarkable artistic wonders.
