OLIVETTI ADRIANO: (1901-1960) Italian Engineer, Industrialist & Entrepreneur, remembered as the manufacturer of Olivetti typewriters, calculators and computers. T.L.S., Adriano Olivetti, one page, 4to, Ivrea, 25th March 1939, to the Burroughs Adding Machine Co. in Detroit, on the printed stationery of the President of the Olivetti Company. Olivetti writes to his correspondents to introduce Trude Borchardt, who he states is emigrating to the United States, and comments 'During more than two years, Mrs. Borchardt had been employed in our Export Department as foreign correspondent with our high satisfaction. During this time her services proved of great value for our Company, as she showed unusual intelligence, working energy and capacity for independent responsible work'. Together with Arrigo Olivetti (1889-1977) Brother-in-law of Adriano Olivetti. T.L.S., A. Olivetti, one page, 4to, Ivrea, 27th March 1939, to Mr. Elwyn L. Smith of L.C. Smith & Corona Typewriters Inc. in Syracuse, on his personal printed stationery. Olivetti also writes to introduce Borchardt, using almost identical wording to Adriano Olivetti's letter.
