The India Office Library, London, has an extensive collection of some 1.700 Indian Miniatures which date from the sixteenth to the nineteenth century. Over 1.100 of These where purchased by the East India Company for its Library in 1807 from the Nabob Richard Johnson, who served in India from 1770 to 1790.
