Madonna and Child. Walnut wood sculpture with polychrome residue. Northern France. Mid-14th century. The Madonna is facing forwards, leaning slightly to the side. She has a sweet oval face and well-defined eyes. She wears a tunic with a circular neckline and a crown, under which a veil appears, allowing a long lock of curly hair to escape. Due to its similarities and identical height, it appears to us that it could be related to the French School "Virgin standing with Child" which is kept at the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum, although that sculpture is made of stone. The Child’s arms are missing. 118 x 34 x24 cm.
