A FINE AND LARGE ICON SHOWING THE OLD TESTAMENT TRINITY Russian, circa 1700 Tempera on wood panel with kovcheg. The haloes gilded. The angels seated around a table under the oak of Mamre, to the left the Temple, to the right a rock mountain, the figures rendered in classical proportions, each holding a staff. The faces painted with subtle shades of brown with shades of red, the garments and landscape mainly with red and various tones of blue and yellow. The background and border stripped to gesso, minimally restored. 74.5 x 53.8 cm.
