A LARGE ICON OF THE ADORATION OF THE MAGI Veneto-Cretan, 17th century Tempera on wood panel. At the far right the Three Wise Men, the centre the naked figure of Christ, supported by his Mother, the older of the Three Magi wearing a red cape, kneeling and offering a golden goblet to the Child. Eitempera auf Kreidegrund, partielle Goldmalerei. 49,8 x 40 cm (ohne Rahmen). Die Gottesmutter haelt den nackten Christusknaben in ihrem Schoss. Hinter ihr stuetzt sich Josef auf einen Stab. In der rechten Bildhaelfte stehen und knien die drei Koenige, die dem Knaben goldene Kelche und Pokale praesentieren. Vertikale Rissbildung rest., partielle Retuschen.
