A pair of French rosewood and buttoned leather upholstered mechanical reclining armchairs, by Le Maigre, circa 1860, each padded back and seat flanked by padded arm, on channel moulded cabriole legs terminating in brass caps and castors, a push button to the side of the chair enables the back to be reclined, the arms are able to rotate and are held in position by catches to the undersides, the footrest is pulled out from under the chair and opens/rotates into position, the base of each chair marked “Le Maigre (LM) Brevete SGDG”, both chairs are ink stamped with manufacturing numbers 5289 and 6894 respectively, each 100cm high, 70cm wide, 75cm deep
