Gabriel Joly circle (Varipont, France, c. 1470 - Teruel, 1538) "Pentecost" Magnificent, large, carved, wooden relief, possibly from an altarpiece. The scene depicts the Pentecost, the coming of the Holy Spirit to the Apostles and, as is habitual for the time, the Virgin Mary is enthroned in the middle of the Apostles. One of them is missing. The fineness of the sculpture as well as the characteristics resemble, in our opinion, the work of Joly, such as the altarpiece of the Adoration of the shepherds in the National Sculpture Museum in Valladolid, or the Prophets in the Detroit Institute of Arts Museum. 82 x 69 x 14 cm.
