Madonna and Child. Sculpted marble figure. 16th century. Mary is dressed in an unusual bodice resembling a breast plate, with a cape over it which is attached with a jewelled brooch. Various elements such as the long and unusual locks of hair, the facial features and the lower part of Mary´s dress make it difficult to decide on the origin of this sculpture. It could be a sculpture made in the orient for the European market or be from the Italian or Spanish School. Height: 81 cm.
