Jaya Asokan, the New Head of India Art Fair

On 14 April 2021, by Vanessa Schmitz-Grucker

New Delhi’s modern and contemporary art fair has just announced the appointment of Jaya Asokan as its new director. She takes over from Jagdip Jagpal of Great Britain.

Ms. Asokan is no newcomer: she has been the deputy director and director of exhibitor relations. The young Indian woman has a BFA, a graduate degree from New York’s Parsons School of Design and 20 years of experience in art, design, fashion and luxury. She once worked at Saffronart, one of India’s leading online auction houses for art and objets d'art, and was Director of Operations at the Indian art gallery DAG.

Ms. Asokan has worked hard at India Art Fair, South Asia’s leading modern and contemporary art fair, to promote the region’s emerging cultural scene while encouraging international galleries and institutions to participate. Canceled in 2021 due to the pandemic, the 13th Indian Art Fair will take place in New Delhi from February 3 to 6, 2022.
