William Turner (1775-1851)

Alain Moatti (1939-2023) was an erudite antiquarian and a tireless curiosity seeker, renowned in particular for his knowledge of bronzes and majolica. He left a library in which sculpture and the fine arts occupy pride of place.

The Scottish sculptor and painter William Turnbull (1922-2012) is famous for his figurative and minimalist sculptures. Here it takes the form of a woman reflecting the vocabulary of primitive idols.

After remaining with the painter's descendants for many years, this unique group of works from his studio illustrated his virtuosic ability to capture expression and feeling, with a grand total of €431,360.

Veronica Ryan, Heather Phillipson (creator of the Fourth Plinth commission in Trafalgar Square), Sin Wai Kin (formerly Victoria Sin) and Ingrid Pollard are the 2022 shortlist nominées for the prestigious prize. After 15 years, the exhibition for the award returns to Tate Liverpool (October 20- March 19, 2023).

The Belfast-based collective of artists and activists, Array Collective, have won the 2021 Turner Prize, along with a £25,000 gift, becoming the first winners from Northern Ireland to ever win the prestigious prize. Their winning show consists of an installation of a clandestine pub, decked with flags and banners.

Montserrat-born, Ryan is known for her monumental, realistic sculpture of fruit and seeds from the Caribbean. Living between New York and London, the 66-year-old sculptor was featured in the 2022 Whitney Biennial and in 2021 received a commission to create a monument for the Windrush Generation in London. William Turnbull (1922-2012), a minimalist and figurative sculptor, has made few appearances at auction in France. On June 25 at Drouot, under the hammer of Kâ-Mondo, his Female Figure (1989) fetched €215,338. A French record for this friend of both Giacometti and Brancusi.

From 11 September 2019 to 2 February 2020, the London museum will present the "largest survey of work by William Blake in the UK for a generation", through over 300 "rarely seen" pieces, says the press release. It will notably reveal the active role of his wife Catherine in his works' production.
