Following the Met’s decision to remove the name from one of their galleries, the Tate Modern in London has removed a plaque bearing the Sackler name. The museum had previously displayed it on an escalator and by a set of elevators. The Sackler family has been implicated in the US’ opioid crisis.

From June to September, the Matisse Museum in Nice will devote an exhibition to the artist's son, entitled "Pierre Matisse, an art dealer in New York." It was the star of the sale devoted to Indochina by Lynda Trouvé on Tuesday, September 22nd. La Fête du Village, a polychrome lacquer and gold on a black background from 1942, emblematic of the revival of art in Vietnam, fetched €832,000, a world record for its author (source: Artnet).

On Friday, a screen by Gia Tri Nguyen (1908-1993) fetched €1,004,400 under the hammer of Drouot Estimations. This was the first appearance on the market for Villagers Among Banana Trees, which had been acquired in Vietnam from the artist by the great-aunt of the seller.

Almost 45 years after their installation at the Washington Park Arboretum, two 20-ft wide bronze gates were stolen and destroyed, to be sold for scrap. The Arboretum Foundation raised over £150,000 in a year, allowing the artist’s son Gerald Tsutakawa to recreate the gates, to be installed this year. (UW Mag)
