The noted art-world chronicler and longtime Vanity Fair contributing editor, Michael Shnayerson, will write a biography about famed art-dealer, Larry Gagosian whose empire of 19 galleries spans the world. The 77-year-old dealer, who is notoriously tight lipped, will not participate in the biography.

The US mega dealer continues Paris’ resurgence as an art center, establishing his third space at the Place Vendôme. David Zwirner, White Cube and Lévy Gorvy have all recently opened posts in Paris. There, Gagosian will install a 1975 sheet metal work by Alexander Calder.

The former president of Artsy is joining the Gagosian Gallery as part-time senior advisor.

As complaints surfaced around Sam Orlofsky last month Larry Gagosian launched an investigation lead by outside counsel. Yesterday, the founder of the mega-gallery announced to staff that the executive had been let go. Orlofsky was accused of misconduct, primarily targeting women in the gallery, according to Artnet.

Born in East London, 29-year-old Jadé Fadojutimi has rocketed onto the art scene. Last October, two of her paintings were bought at auction for more than £1M each; now, she is represented by Gagosian – the mega gallery of billionaire art dealer Larry Gagosian.

Fetching $195M (with fees) on May 9, Andy Warhol’s 1964 painting Shot Sage Blue Marilyn is the most expensive piece of 20th-century art and the most expensive piece of American art ever sold. The previous records were $179.4M and $110.5M respectively. According to Bloomberg US art dealer Larry Gagosian was the buyer.

According to the Wall street journal, the heirs of Paul von Mendelssohn-Bartholdy have approached art dealer Larry Gagosian, to sell the $10M Picasso drawing "Head of a woman" (1912), returned to the family on March 30 by the Washington National Gallery. The museum still denies the validity of the restitution claim.
