Based in New York, London and Hong Kong, the gallery enters the French market on October 23rd, with a solo show by Günther Uecker. This is the first exhibition of the German artist (born in 1930) in Paris since 1968. The former member of the ZERO group will present a group of monumental watercolors.

The Munich auction house experienced its best results in its 65-year history this year, with sales grossing over €30.7 million. The final auctions on December 6-8 of Modern and Post War/Contemporary Art boasted five results over €1 million, including top lot Weisses Feld by Günther Uecker which achieved €1,687,500.

Demand is strong for the great German names, especially for Günther Förg (1952-2013). His price index has risen by 617% in 20 yrs, compared to 379% for Sigmar Polke and 37% for Emil Nolde. The reason? The artist entered the ranks of the Hauser & Wirth Gallery, and the pandemic had little impact on the German market.
