Bernardo Bellotto (1722-1780)

The £11 M, View of Verona with the Ponte delle Navi is a rare early masterpiece by the Italian artist. Dating from the mid-18th century and measuring over 6.5 ft wide, the artwork is the first of Bellotto’s paintings to be recorded in Britain and its pair is now at Powis Castle, in Wales. The ban ends on August 3rd.

The Trecento Italian early Renaissance artist's works are always sought after and fetch high bids. This sale featured a biblical scene attributed to the master as well as a painting by Guillaumin and a porcelain bowl from Saint Cloud.
