Pair of very rare soft-paste porcelain scroll vases decorated in blue monochrome, in the style of Chinese designs, with large foliate and floral scrolls forming stylized palmettes on the base and neck, and a frieze of floral scrolls in the center.
Late 17th century (a small chip on the rim of one neck).

Soft-Paste Porcelain at the Saint-Cloud Manufactory. Ca 1690-1766, 1999, p. 52).
These pieces are part of the very first production by the Saint-Cloud Manufactory in imitation of Chinese pieces, before the appearance of lambrequin decorations. The shape of these vases is similar to that of the bottle vases in the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris (inv. 27643.A and B).
