Fantin - Latour, Catalogue of the complete works (1849 - 1904) of Fantin - Latour, Paris, 1911, n° 61, (location unknown). Our painting is the resumption of the right part of the painting painted in 1563 by Veronese and kept in the Louvre. It is the first copy, painted in 1856 by Fantin - Latour. Fantin-Latour copied various great masters for whom he had admiration, notably Veronese, Giorgione, Titian, Rubens... He made several copies of the Wedding at Cana between 1856 and 1870. Most of them were commissions. The one of 1857 was painted for the collector Beecher - Srtowe. In 1859, Fantin - Latour made a small painting for Mr. Pina, from Mexico. The 1861 copy was for Sir F. Seymour Haden, and the 1865 copy for Mr. Dilberoglou. The 1867 copy, for Mr. Homer, is now in the Ulster Museum (Ireland).
