The author, the king's hydrographer, gives a general idea of the construction of ships with its main parts and their proportions, he examines the gravity and the force of water to support the ship and finally the observation of the wind on the sail and the shock of water on the hull. Illustrated with 12 DEPLIANT PLATES and 3 vignettes engraved by Chedel. Scattered foxing, a few pages browned otherwise a good copy (Polak, 1050).
