History :
This series is taken from the collection Fastes de Napoléon - Plon, 1857 - reproducing the frescoes commissioned by Napoleon for the Caryatid Hall of the Palazzo Reale in Milan. Painted by Andrea d'Appiani from 1803 to 1807, they were almost entirely destroyed during the Second World War.
